Why Repair?
Repairing items instead of throwing them away is great for the environment and great for you! Here are some key benefits:
Benefits for you
✓ Saves money
✓ Learn valuable skills
✓ Keep the items you love being used for longer!
Benefits for the environment
✓ Help preserve natural resources (by reducing demand for new items to be manufactured)
✓ Reduce pollution / carbon emissions (again through reduced manufacturing demand)
✓ Keep items from going to waste
Better than recycling?
You bet! Even if an item is recyclable, it’s a more sustainable choice to repair and reuse it first. The waste hierarchy gives guidance on our options when considering what to do with what we might see as waste: Reduce, Repair, Reuse, Recycle.
